Education Minister, Hon. Douglas Syakalima has reiterated that it is a requirement for all teachers to register with the Teaching Council of Zambia (TCZ) because of the critical role they play in the education system.
Hon. Syakalima has said the importance of teachers cannot be overemphasised because they create all professionals.
The Education Minister said it is for this reason that teachers must register with the TCZ, a body mandated to regulate the Teaching profession.
Hon. Syakalima was speaking at his office Wednesday 7th August, 2024 when a delegation from the Malawi Teaching Council lead by their Chairperson Professor Joseph Chimombo paid a courtesy call on him.
The Minister said Teaching Councils are critical because of the role they play of regulating the teaching profession.
“It is important to regulate the teaching profession because it gives birth to all professionals such as doctors, Engineers and lawyers who are also equally important to society. If we do not have a professional cadre of teachers we risk destroying society because we will not have well educated doctors, engineers and lawyers.” Hon. Syakalima
