TCZ and UNICAF Partner to Make 2026 World Teachers’ Day Commemoration Special
The Teaching Council of Zambia (TCZ) joined the rest of the world in commemorating the 2026 World Teachers’ Day under the theme, “Standing with Teachers: 60 Years of Protecting the Profession, Advancing its Status, and Shaping Our Futures.”
This year’s commemoration was particularly significant as the Teaching Council of Zambia strengthened its collaboration with UNICAF University to make the recognition of outstanding teachers even more meaningful and memorable.
As part of the World Teachers’ Day celebrations, TCZ recognized selected teachers for their dedication, commitment and contribution to the teaching profession. Each awardee received a TCZ corporate shirt, certificate, shield and a cash prize of K5,000 as a token of appreciation for their outstanding service.
In a move that added further value to the recognition, UNICAF University came on board with additional prizes, presenting five tablets, two 100% scholarships and seven 85% scholarships to deserving teachers. The partnership not only enhanced the awards but also demonstrated the importance of strategic collaboration in supporting teachers’ professional growth and development.
The collaboration between TCZ and UNICAF University is timely, as it provides teachers with opportunities to further their education, enhance their professional competencies and remain responsive to the changing demands of the teaching profession. Access to technology and scholarships can also empower teachers to acquire new knowledge and skills that ultimately contribute to improved learning outcomes.
The collaboration between the Teaching Council of Zambia (TCZ) and UNICAF University demonstrates a shared commitment to empowering teachers as key drivers of quality education and national development. Through partnerships that promote professional development, access to technology, innovation and lifelong learning, teachers are better equipped to shape the future of learners and the nation. TCZ therefore encourages more strategic collaborations that support and elevate the teaching profession, reaffirming its commitment to standing with teachers, promoting professionalism and enhancing their status and welfare. Investing in teachers is investing in Zambia’s future—stronger teachers, stronger learners and a better-educated Zambia.
