TCZ HAS COMMENCED COMPLIANCE INSPECTIONS – 8th March, 2018
The Teaching Council of Zambia (TCZ) has dispatched inspectors to check on teacher compliance country wide. This exercise is meant to ensure that only registered teachers are allowed to work in Zambian schools- whether public or private. The Teaching Council of Zambia had set 31st March, 2018 as deadline for teacher registration for all SERVING teachers.
During the compliance inspections, Teachers will be required to provide photocopies of their TCZ registration Certificates as proof of registration. However, the registered teachers who have not yet received their certificates need not to worry, as TCZ is aware of their fate.
The Compliance Inspections in schools is in line with the Teaching Profession Act No. 5 of 2013 which clearly stipulates that only registered and certified teachers are allowed to operate in any Zambian school.
The Teaching Council of Zambia further wishes to advise that all SERVING registered teachers are encouraged to apply for Practicing Certificates, whose deadline has been set for 31st May 2018.
The Teaching Council of Zambia remains committed to the operationalization of the Teaching Profession Act of Parliament number 5 of 2013 which mandates the TCZ to regulate the teachers, their practice and professional conduct from both public and private sectors. Additionally, the Teaching Profession Act provides for the accreditation and regulation of all colleges of education.
